June is a mother to all of us here at Columba Cottage. She has two daughters and is also a mother to all of our staff and Outside School Hours care (OSHC) children. She can spot a past Columba Cottage child in a crowd and not only remember their name but also their many likes, dislikes and family members!
June is officially the Educational Leader of the OSHC program. Unofficially though, she is head of animal control, chief baker, nurse, artist, program manager and creative consultant! June is always finding new ways of implementing intriguing activities for the children to embrace, and is never without a smile!
How long have you been working at Columba Cottage?
Since the beginning, which was 18th February 2009. I began as a Room Leader in the Long Day Care rooms Columba Cottage, then Room Leader of the OSHC, and now I am the OSHC Coordinator.
What is the strangest thing that you’ve found yourself doing here at Columba Cottage?
Animal control. I have removed kangaroos and lizards from the Outside school hours care playground and also the room!
What do you absolutely love doing when you’re not at work?
I really enjoy making candles when I’m at home, and I enjoy travelling in my holidays.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in Early Childhood?
Passion. If you are passionate you can achieve greatness in having a positive influence on the life of a child.
What is your favourite part of the day at Columba Cottage?
I love interacting with children and their families, and watching children grow and develop into adults.
