Deanna has been in childcare for quite a while. As a long-time resident of the mid-north coast, the outdoor-loving Deanna knows the area fairly well. Deanna’s hobbies include horse riding and looking after her property.

She really likes that her current children are becoming independent learners, full of their own ideas. One of Deanna’s favourite activities involves books. “I love not just reading the book to the children but making it an interactive experience, asking children to recall details, describe objects and predict the storyline.  The children amaze me all the time with their answers.”

As a passionate educator, Deanna has never worked in a more rewarding environment. The work done by Deanna and her team is challenging but enables educators to look at the whole child.   Providing higher quality early childhood experiences for young children and their families are of great value for children’s learning and development.

Teaching children how to interact with others is an integral part of Deanna’s day and is best achieved by serving as a positive role model, nurturing their self-esteem and encouraging good habits. She also encourages children to express themselves creatively.

Deanna is looking forward to working with Cam this year, as his sporting and health background will bring new experiences to the children in the Kangaroo Room.
