Tom brings with him over 6 years of experience in Childcare and is passionate about education in the early years. Originally from Sydney, Tom has enjoyed a treechange to the Port Macquarie region.  Neither the bushfires nor the recent heavy rains have dampened his enjoyment of this alternate (to the city) lifestyle.

Tom’s dynamic and professional approach will further enhance our objective of ensuring that children have an enjoyable, safe and purposeful learning experience at Coumba Cottage. He is looking forward to getting to know families better so be sure to introduce yourself if you have not yet done so.

Tom organizes the environment and experiences to enrich the children’s world. He tries to balance important learning outcomes with children’s natural interests and build strong home-school relationships in order to support children and prepare them for future success, both in and outside the classroom. Tom started the interests of children in worm farming and water harvesting and will hopefully guide them with the Native Beehive.

Tom’s most important trait is that he knows and responds to each child as an individual as he talks respectfully to children and encourages them to express themselves through words. He provides a stimulating curriculum and he believes that children’s interests and ideas should be respected and reflected in the activities provided. Tom is looking forward to 2020 in the Emu Room, working with a passionate team of educators and focusing on sustainability practices.
